Vasilis Koutroulakis: From Kleitoria, Kalavryta to America, his organic & multi-award-winning KORYS honey “travels”

Korys in ancient Greek means the peak, the highest point of the helmet. Korys was also the name of Mount Helmos in ancient Greek. The now famous beekeeper Vasilis Koutroulakis reached the top through his perseverance, his hard work and his love for beehives.

Vasilis Koutroulakis found a way out of the hectic pace of Athens in beekeeping and slowly but surely managed to stand out for the quality and variety of his products. He now lives permanently in Kleitoria, Kalavryta, while the company’s headquarters are in Planitero, Kalavryta. Since 2008, his modern beekeeping laboratory has been officially operating with a view of Helmos. The name of the product was also inspired by this mountain: Korys. Approximately 30% of production in Germany, England, Finland, Austria and America comes from it, small quantities that are steadily increasing. In 2022, its exports reached 60% of sales.
