Our journey began several years ago when a young Vasilios Koutroulakis, born and raised in Athens, started considering leaving the capital behind and going to live in the countryside to pursue his dream!

After school, chance and circumstance brought him in 1996 to the Technical and Vocational School of Beekeeping at the Syggrou Estate, where he first learned about bees. He became fascinated with the society of bees, and in 2000 he left Athens and moved to Kleitoria, Kalavrita, to fully pursue beekeeping.

Starting with just a few beehives and expanding year after year, he had already embarked on this challenging yet wonderful journey. In 2008, he took a big step by participating in a European program to complete his honey workshop/processing facility, located in the lush valley of the Aroanios River, at the foot of Mt. Chelmos in the Planitero village, an area of unparalleled natural beauty (Natura 2000).

In 2016, after several years of searching and through conversations with good friends, an idea for a name was born! ΚόRYS… which in ancient Greek means the topmost part of the armor, the helm… to symbolize the top quality of our products!

In 2022, with the help of a European LEADER program, he once again modernized his beekeeping facility to meet the new legislative requirements and demands of his partners.

Meanwhile, ΚόRYS organic honeys have been winning awards in various international taste and quality competitions since 2014, receiving outstanding reviews and scores from internationally acclaimed food tasters. To date, the ΚόRYS honey family has won 57 awards, the majority of them at GREAT TASTE and BIOLMIEL competitions in England and Italy respectively, and has also won the 2020 Mikroi Iroes (Little Heroes) award from the prestigious culinary magazine GASTRONOMOS for the production of high-quality honey.

Thanks to their quality, ΚόRYS honeys have also conquered international markets and are exported abroad in Germany, France, Albania, Russia, Finland, Switzerland, Austria and the USA. In addition to that, they have earned the trust of world renowned chefs and pastry chefs at the finest restaurants and patisseries in Greece.
